A lot going on lately and not a lot of time to post. Just got back from lush and deeply beautful Costa Rica with the BF. We overall had a great time, but for heaven’s sake, even religiously drinking bottled water couldn’t save either of us from a bit of difficulty (to put it mildly)! John was smart and waited to get home before getting sick, whereas delicate and sensitive me hadda go and lose a day and a half of the vacation itself lying prone in the hotel room watching reruns of The Simpsons (in Spanish). At least it rained the proverbial cats and dogs the main day I was sick so I wasn’t missing too much. Anyway, we’re both okay now, with lotsa good good memories to last us a long while, especially of the Howler Monkeys in the rain forests, the incredibly fresh and juicy pineapple we got served up with breakfast every morning at El Silencio, the beautiful and majestic hanging bridges at Mt. Arenal volcano and oh, the quiet & wonderful oceanside at Playa Hermosa where we stayed in the closing days of the trip. I could totally retire on an ocean beachfront (yeah, like who couldn’t)…

Apropo of absolutely nothing, here back at the ranch, I am really, really into watching Twin Peaks, Season 2, which was recently, finally released on DVD. A damn good show. That theme music - hell the whole soundtrack. Brilliant, man…

Hey, are you reading “Curbside” online still? On the Lavender site? Well, are you? They don’t archive, so once the 2 weeks are up for each episode, that’s it! Right now they are running the second of the “Stan” stories, a brief series (5 in all) of satirical comics concerning Stan, a certain type of gay boy we’ve all encountered at one point or another. Check it out. I’m not sure what I’ll do after “Stan”, but stay tuned. Oh, and sorry, Lavender doesn’t supply magnifying glasses for perusing their comics pages, either for the online or for the print version. You’re on your own there…

In other comics-related developments, I am one of 7 cartoonists working on a wild comics jam for an upcoming edition of Jen Camper’s Juicy Mother anthology (the link provided here is to the second issue, which is due out this October at long last). The jam just worked its way back to me before I went on my trip, and now I gotta come up with something as equally twisted to match up with what’s come down beforehand. I’m not telling who else Jen managed to corral into this, but it’s a great group of sick & deranged artists. Just thought I’d whet your curiosity, which is sort goofy actually, as the strip probably won’t see print for a couple years yet. But um, get excited, anyway…

Lastly, my zine, Curbside: an Eensy Weensy Little Collection is still available for a buck (address below in that prior post). Not nearly enough of you are ordering it, so c’mon, it’s just a buck. Less than a cuppajoe…
