My bad reader review on the Curbside Boys page on Amazon.com:
Terrible, February 6, 2007 (one star)
By Nysocboy (Wisconsin)
“Way too much text per frame, so much that the artwork is overwhelmed. Which is probably a good thing, since the artwork is horrible, amateurish, the kind of doodling you would see from a young boy with an interest in art but no training. The most important problem is that the strip is not in the least funny. Most of the strips are depressing; the “gags” evoke sadness, even despair. I can’t tell if the author is trying to depress his readers for some crazy reason, or if he thinks he’s being funny. Either way, he should take a look at some of the best gay comics.”
I clicked on the “See All My Reviews” link for this guy and he gave several other one star reviews to various books and DVDS, including Greg Fox’s Kyle’s Bed and Breakfast comic strip collection (”They (the characters) agonize with the internalized homophobia of a Kansas farmboy circa 1953.”), Nico and Dani (”oddly homophobic story of gay love”), Cruel Intentions (”the most homophobic movie that I have ever seen”) and the 80’s slasher flick Sleepaway Camp (”there’s a difference between homoerotic and homophobic”). He certainly does not mince words, that’s for sure, and look out homophobes! He is on the case. The major prob I have is his nasty review is that chronologically it’s the most recent one for my book, so anyone looking at it on Amazon sees his um, acerbic views before seeing the far kinder notices.
Underneath, where it asks “Was This Review Helpful to You?” Amazon shows 0 of 1 readers found this review helpful. Guess who that reader might be? :O)
